I downloaded DISCWORLD from abandonia. I tried running it with DOSBOX and VDMS. Either way I am getting the music, but no SFX or voices. On VDMS, even the music is quite poor quality (constantly skipping / breaking up)

I get the following warnings after I exit the game on both DOSBOX and VDMS.
MIDPAK SOUND DRIVER UNLOADED
DIGPAK SOUND DRIVER UNLOADED

I searched as many forums as possible to get a solution. I saw one that say that the Abandonia version of this game has no sound on it, but that they suggest using the HOTU version which works perfectly for them. Delighted with this news, I uninstalled the abandonia version and downloaded and ran the HOTU version. THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS OCCURRED.

I have tried all that I can. I have run the configuration file that comes with the game on every possible set-up for the sound. I have tried manually configuring the sound in VDMS. I have followed the advice on the download page in Abandonia. Nothing is working for either version.

I am using Windows XP.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I feel your pain, i am currently trying out the 5th download for the game and no success. and using both programs (but i cant figure out if its possible to use them in conjunction)

what i have noticed is that setting up the midi to Roland LAPC/MT32 will enable the music to start earlier (at the intro with great a'tuin...although it is quite loud) i have been through every setting i can think of and all i can vaguely remember is that when i did have the original CD (now broken and in front of me as it happens) is that i think i got the sound running when i set it to no sound. Confused

also on another forum i heard that on some copies the sound only kicks in when Rincewind wakes, but i know it starts when the yellow logo pops up at the beginning
